What are those funny numbers? Deutsche Bahn is using completly different ones!

True. I decided rather early to use a numbering system of my own because my goals are different from those of Deutsche Bahn. For one, I am not primarly interested in whether a line is owned by the federal railways or a NE-Bahn but in its geographical position. Especially in the new federal states of the East DB's numbers are quite chaotic. Also, for me historical relations are more important than current operational ones.

For the future, my numbering scheme should be able to also cover industrial railways as well as tram networks. For those purposes, number ranges beginning with 0 and 9 have been kept back.
