Many things happend since the first train took off in Germany in December 1835. So many things in fact that it is hard to keep track of them. Even trying to was time-consuming and expensice not to long ago.
The internet and especially the anarchic data collection of the world wide web have greatly simplified things by providing the opportunity to google for facts.
This project, however, is trying to go one step further. It aims to provide a free collection of pure facts of the history of the German railway network. This is the documentation of the project. It starts with terminology and concepts and continues with an in-depth explaination of the data format.
This version is still a draft of the documentation. Some concepts need more attention, some things will change. If you find anything odd or think it isn't covered with enough detail I'd like to hear from you. Please send all comments to the e-mail address stated below.
Please note that this English translation may be out of date in some points. I usually add changes to the German version first and later tend forget to update the English pages as well. If you find anything in the source files that is not explained herein please send a flaming e-mail immediately.
