Historical Facts on the German Railway Infrastructure

Hello and welcome to a project that aims to collect as many facts as possible about the history of the German railway infrastructure and provide them in a formal representation to allow for simple searches, e.g., for a certain date. Currently a basic stock of data is created which will be improved step by step with additional data.

All collected data is published freely under the GPL and the German Lizenz für freie Inhalte (license for free content). This way we want to encourage all people to share there knowledge because this is the only way we can ever even come close to our goal of completeness.

In a sibling project a Historical Railway Atlas is being created which is available freely as well.

Please note: A new, more interactive version of this project is currently being rolled out at railwayhistory.org. Content will be migrated over step by step.

Temporary line list
The HTMLizer, unfortunately, is currently broken and there is no time to write a proper new one. Therefore, data is currently only available in form of the source files with embedded links.

Documentation: The documentation of the formal data and basic concepts. It has not yet been fully translated but you may still have a look if you want.
Various Sources: Excerpts from various documents. Currently contains line offerings by Deutsche Bahn and tables from several printings of Deutsche Bundestag.
